It was that time of year again when OWB took to the pitch for #CopadelCL all in aid of Cure Leukaemia. Set at St. George’s Park, the training ground of the England football team, the annual event was sold out and saw quite the line up of legends, including Chris Brunt, Chris Sutton, Kevin Phillips, Lee Hendrie (who kept us all entertained with his on-pitch antics), Matt Le Tissier, Frank Sinclair, Matt Elliott, Ian Harte, Michael Johnson and Danny Mills as well as Line of Duty’s notorious villain, ‘H’, Nigel Boyle.
Team OWB Pathetic who didn’t have quite the all-star line up, improved their results from last year with an assist from Pottsy and goals scored by the Norman brothers (despite our Norm suffering a hand injury!). Andy, everyone’s favourite goalkeeper was outstanding once again in his defence against the relentless barrage of goal attempts – with only a few sneaking through! Whilst we didn’t make it to the semi finals OWB did have a great day supporting a fantastic cause. The tournament was won by Frame Breakers, the defending champions who defeated Unreal Madrid by 3-0!
After a day playing football, there was a chance to relax and enjoy dinner whilst listening to Dean Saunders, ex Liverpool and Aston Villa player, recall a great story from his days under Ron Atkinson.
