The summer has officially come to an end and we are looking back at a very successful couple of months here at OWB. This summer was positively overwhelmed by the Big Hoot. People from all over the country came to visit Birmingham to do the trail and the campaign was a huge success. The money raised will go towards the development of a Rare Disease Centre in Birmingham Children’s hospital. The centre will make it possible for children to be treated in one unit, rather than having to see specialists in different units or on multiple dates. All in all, a great cause!
And the fundraising is not over: OWB took part in the LDC Big Hoot Treasure Trail along with 30 teams! The evening started at the Cosy Club in Birmingham where we all gathered. We were tasked with over 80 questions, which we had to answer in just 2 hours. The OWB team was, of course, pretty competitive and sped across town to get as many of the questions correct! Examples of questions were ‘ how many giraffes are on the back of the Twycross Owl?’ and ‘how many children are awaiting adoption in England in the year 2014?’ Would you know? In 2014 there were 68,840 children in care of local authorities. Some tough questions, however we did extremely well and came in 4th (thanks to the Curly Wurly bonus points!).
We can truly say we have enjoyed being part of the Big Hoot 2015 fundraising and, if you haven’t had enough why not attend the Big Hoot 2015 auction?
